UI Operation
------------

General
-------

+ Additional options are available under the 'CONFIGURATION' button.

These options are per-preset and stored in the preset file.

+ RightClick+Drag sliders and the delay box to set modulation markers.

+ SHIFT+LeftClick sliders, waveform selectors and the delay box to center them.

+ SHIFT+RightClick sliders and the delay box to reset modulation markers.

+ Hold CTRL to increase drag precision for all draggable objects. (Except switches.)

+ Hold ALT to be able to move an envelope point without altering the timeline.

+ Hold ALT to be able to move an envelope loop marker without moving the other one as well.

+ To quickly change a modulation source, filter model, etc., LeftClick the switch and drag up/down.

+ If you cannot set an exact value like 2500 even when holding SHIFT, set the slider below or above

the desired value (the opposite side of where you tried from first) and try again. Some values require

to start dragging from a position above whereas others require starting from a position below.

Sometimes it can also be necessary to drag the slider hard left or right first and start from there.

If you cannot set the exact desired value even though you have tried from both sides with and without

holding SHIFT then that value is a victim of the divisor used for the sliders and cannot be set at all.

Oscilloscope
------------

+ LeftClick+Drag left/right to alter the resolution.

Note that this setting is volatile, meaning it will not survive a restart.

It will not be saved with the preset either.

Preset Management
-----------------

+ To name a preset, click directly into the Compu Store box.

You can further enter author, category and also add some notes.

+ To save a preset use the 'Store Settings' button. Use the 'Save as type'

dropdown menu at the bottom of the Explorer window to select a format.

  The following formats are available:

FXP - VST Standard Format Program / Can be loaded by all hosts

FXB - VST Standard Format Bank / Can be loaded by all hosts

ASS - Atlantis Proprietary Format Program / Can only be loaded by Atlantis itself

ATS - Atlantis Proprietary Format Bank / Can only be loaded by Atlantis itself

+ To load a preset or bank use the 'Recall Settings' button.

You can load all 4 formats mentioned above.

Note: Presets and banks can of course also be saved and loaded via the hosts

preset manager, meaning you do not have to use Atlantises internal

preset manager if you dont want to.

+ An Atlantis bank holds 32 presets. To change them, you can RightClick

into the Compu Store box and select one from the dropdown menu or

LeftClick into the Compu Store box and drag up and down. Note that if

you do use the drag method, and release the mousebutton while the cursor

is within the Compu Store box, the name/author/category/notes box will

pop open. Mousewheel can be used as well, but this does not seem to

function properly yet. (At least i never had it working in a usable way.)

If your host provides a Next/Previous function for presets you can of

  course use that option too.

+ For direct access to all banks and presets located in Atlantises 'Presets'

folder you can RightClick the 'Recall Settings' button. This will pop up

a dropdown menu listing all of that folders content, including any subfolders.

All formats mentioned above are supported.

Other Stuff
-----------

New Waves
---------
+ You can extend Atlantises sounds practically infinitely by using your own waves in HFOs and LFOs.

A good way to come up with usable new waves is RndWave by Sonic Assault.

  Weblink: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jez.price

You can put your custom waves directly in the 'Chips' folder in Atlantises 'Data' directory.

You can also create subfolders in the Chips folder and put them in these, e.g. sorted by type.

The context menu of the waveform selectors will display your subfolders as subitems of the Chips folder.

Note that there currently is a limit of ca. 290 userwaves that Atlantis can process. To make Atlantis update

your userwaves, (in case the userwave store is already full and you want it to list a new/different set)

shut down Atlantis, delete 'Atlantis.wfd' in Atlantises Data dir and restart Atlantis.

  Tip: Waves can be automated.

Synth Engine
------------
+ To avoid unwanted sideeffects like the synth keeping to produce an inaudible signal after note release,

(the exact kind of sideeffect depends on the modulation source, what position it goes to after note release

and other things), the end of the modulation marker should not reach either sides very end. Leave a little

room there so that the modulation source cannot reach 100% left or 100% right. (95% should be OK.)

+ The Octaver (one of the Shaper functions) may keep producing an inaudible signal after note release.

+ VCF3 feeds back into the Delay! Be careful not to generate any nasty feedback-loops.

+ If your preset is to use the Reverb, it is probably a good idea to route the Shaper after the filters.

Otherwise, since the Reverb is a function of the Shaper, the Reverb will be filtered as well.

+ AM RingMod at very low values (0 to 0.1000) can be used as a Right->Center->Left (PseudoSurround-)Panner.

Frequency to set speed, Resonance to set intensity.

Put it on one of the delay filters to pan only the delayed signal.

+ Very high filter resonance (9000+) may lead to an internal feedback-loop and held signal on note off.

Whether or not this happens is situation-dependent and influenced by various factors.

+ Resolution of envelopes (point-positions) is higher with less time inserted and lower with more time inserted.

Remember this when you need to set a point-position with more precision.

+ Clicks with very fast filter-mod attacks:

The closer a wave starts to zerocrossing, the less sharp/audible the clicking will be.

(Usually that is, but in certain situations other factors will have to be considered as well.)

Tweak the waveform boxes and the Morph/Offset/Width/Stereo/Phase/Chorus sliders until both waves start

at an acceptable position. Additionally it usually also helps to enable the 'resets oscs' feature in the

config dialog, and/or to use polyphonic mode instead of monophonic/portamento/arpeggio.

+ Very short delay-times, high delay-feedback and high delay-filter-resonance do not go well together.

+ Due to the lack of snapping to gridlines, 100% perfectly BPM-synced envelope loops are practically impossible.

However, with ultra-exact positioning of the breakpoints between the envelope loop markers it is possible to

achieve enough precision for the loop to stay in sync for at least some time. That way the loop can be kept in

sync by simply retriggering the note every now and then.

+ Atlantis features 'Drone' buttons. (Next to the OSC-Sync buttons.) Very handy for percussion and sequences as

they allow you to force the oscillators to always play the same note regardless of the key pressed on the keyboard.
